WHY YOU NEED TO GET INTO THE BUZZ OF DRY BRUSHING!
I've known about dry brushing for a while now and while I did not jump on it immediately after knowing about it, I am mighty glad I got with it when I did. Bodycare is as important to me as skincare, so I always open myself up to trying something that could improve the health or my skin. Something that does that and more obviously stole my heart and I think it can have a little place in yours too!
Dry Brushing /drʌɪ - brʌʃ/
verb.
Dry brushing is the daily act of massaging your body with a natural, stif-bristled brush in particular motions for the health of your skin and to improve lymphatic fluid.
Dry brushing, like gua sha, is one of the oldest beauty and bodycare techniques. Initially used for exfoliating, dry brushing has been gaining more hype recently and now more so for its health benefits. There are tons of reasons why you should be trying this out, so read on to see which I've got to give.
5 BENEFITS OF DRY BRUSHING
An awesome exfoliant! Using this technique can gently remove dead cells that may be clogging your pores.
Unclogged pores are better prepped for the absorption of nutrients from steps that follow on your bodycare regimen.
Improvement of blood circulation through stimulation. It gets your blood flowing.
Improved circulation can assist with skin regeneration at the surface.
This technique, when used effectively, can loosen up sore lymph nodes by improving circulation of the lymph and introducing new fluids to the lymph.
HOW-TO DRY BRUSH
Start at your feet, brush your soles and move upwards.
Always brush towards your heart and focus more around joints, neck, the abdomen and armpits.
When working on the stomach area, brush in a circular, clockwise-like motion.
On your back and chest move towards your heart with the brush.
My Tips.
Do the technique everyday or at least every other day.
This is most effective on skin that is not oily (freshly cleaned). So, always do it before a shower or bath.
Use a natural bristle brush. A natural brush is usually made from animal* hair, but there are vegan alternatives.
For a full exfoliation session, use a body scrub after the brushing.
Wash thoroughly, shy away from scolding water in the shower.
Moisturize effectively with lotions and oils after your wash.
Extra Beauty Benefits
In addition to being an excellent exfoliating tool, dry brushing can reduce the appearance of cellulite after a consistent period of use. Usage of this technique will also reduce your body's water retention and this is because of it's ability to improve circulation.
