Good morning, sunshine. Lovely having you here, with this post I share my morning routine and how these little rituals make my entire day better. Please read ahead.
Awake and Shine.
I know it seems like leaving the bed a mess is not too much of a bad idea, and that it doesn't even require time you don't have - but that just ain't it.
An even better approach is to finish what you start. How, you wonder? The night before you tuck yourself in removing the pillows and getting comfortable in your bed, by waking up and finishing this process (making your bed) you help in building your willpower. Plus, it brings some freshness into your your space and you won't be tempted to jump back in.
Hydration!
Water, water, waterrr! I keep a bottle of water next to my bed incase thirst traps me during the night but...this habit comes in handy for the morning, because once my body is up very soon my mind is racing to get to the next thing to do. So, I drink water as I defrost, while I make my bed or before I prepare for my workout. I highkey suggest drinking water before any caffeinated drinks. x
Preworkout & Workouts.
Once I'm nearly well-defrosted I prep myself for my favorite part of the morning, physical maintenance!
I used to jump out of bed and hit a jog, that way I didn't give myself enough time to convince myself not to do it. Overtime I've worked into a system that allows me to ease my body, healthily, into a workout so I'll do stretches before cardio or if I choose to run I'll start it off with a walk.
I 10/10 recommend doing some sort of physical workout, it's an overall booster!
Cleanliness and Godliness.
After my cool-down, I get hydrated some more and since my energy levels would still be high I get to cleaning, chores and just setting the mood for my space for the day. The best way to tackle keeping the entire place clean but not spend hours cleaning is to compartmentalize the rooms and duties according to the days of the week. A clean space revitalizes and keeps your mind clear, so keep clatter at a very minimum - it takes just as much time leaving something where it doesn't belong as it would putting it in its designated position.
I will be sharing a template and suggestions of how I maintain a clean functional space for myself on the next post!
Shower/Bath-time!
I know I said working out was my favorite part of the morning, but that's always because I look forward to this sweet part of selfcare in every morning. A bath or shower to cleanse (the sweat) and be even more grateful for the beauty of being is what helps me set intention for my day. Bliss. x
Skincare.
I prefer to do my skincare routine after my bath or shower, I use the steaming from either for my face. However, before I step out for a run, I always apply sunscreen on a clean face. After my bath, its usually extensive and if I choose to do makeup on that day, she follows suit.
Breakfast/Brunch.
Having an actual meal in the morning or at noon instead of coffee is a "live longer" hack, quote me. While I dont seem to enjoy food early in the morning, noon time works perfectly for my first meal and it sustains me well into the evening meal - with lots of snacking in-between.
Dress up or Down.
Whatever your cup of tea, being dressed up or dressed down for the day needs to be very comfortable. I spend hours in the clothes I choose in the morning, so I often choose something that makes me do a double take on myself. Even if its loungewear I still strive to zhuzh the girl up because that makes me feel better!
If you've read this far, thank you and I hope you had a treat. See you soon.
Take care, with love,
A Luxe Ledi.
