SEASONAL FATIGUE.

It's mid-September, the nights are getting shorter but the mornings are so much warmer - general consensus is that I should have a spring in my step...but I'm sleepy.


My mind quickly decides, year-end fatigue but the bother with that is I STILL HAVE 4 MONTHS OF THE YEAR. There is still beautiful Spring to enjoy and Summer is going to soothe everything else. So, if not year-end fatigue what? Seasonal fatigue!


As the seasons change and the days get longer in the springtime, our bodies readjust our hormones accordingly and this change and readjustment of testosterone, estrogen and endorphins is what wears our bodies out.

( While in the Northern parts of the world the nights get longer and the production of melatonin is impacted by an increase. )



Sleep might be the greatest creation, ever, but fatigue is not cute at all unless you're up for constant headaches, sore joints and moodiness. Here's what's been helping me get out of bed easier:


  1. Sleeping in often! I don't see how this could have been left out, I feel tired and I have no desire to Thor my tire. 8 hours of sleep is mandatory for me and whenever I can, I add a good hour or two - on free days it's in the mornings but otherwise I will be asleep by 9p.m.

  2. Minimun but OPTIMUM movement. Guilty of wanting to go for a HIIT workout every morning but definitely enjoying doing less. While I expect my body to look like I have been "tightening my core" for the last 10 years, I love feeling happy in my body right now - awesome core strength aside.

  3. SUPPLEMENTS! Getting multivitimins in is sooo important, in the winter eyeball do it to keep the flu at bay but there are benefits to keep up that habit even in the springtime. Vitamin B works best for energy regulation!

  4. Water. I'll admit water might just have a superpower, because there have been a few times I could have easily dosed off standing and I was revived by water. Oversell? Maybe, anything to promote more water intake - even for myself. Lol.


I hope these help even a tiny bit as we approach more festivities in the Summer, it would be so awesome to get there vital and fully out of the gloom of winter!
