Therapeutic Monthly Reset

Happy Soft Sunday, love. ♡

It's the end of the second month of the year and I imagine the steam of internal motivation might be fizzling out. Worry not though, I might have a solution!

Resets are routines one forms for themselves to help them fall back into the groove of things - however this is so much more than an aesthetic Instagram reel, it takes mental preparation and with February only ending on Tuesday, a two-day leeway seems workable.

I give myself a reset as often as I feel the need, this can be fortnightly or weekly but ones I never skip are monthly resets. These make me feel like I'm staying on top of the game by a Checking In with all the promises I made at the beginning of the year; I also get to make all necessary changes to adjust my goals and my approaches.

- How I Approach Resets -

Journaling to Release.

Our minds work over time, all the time - moreover if you do not prioritize meditation. Life can feel overwhelming and it seems unfair that I sometimes expect my mind to go beyond its job of just keeping me alive by making me happy. Journaling helps me do a mental dump on paper without feeling like I'm oversharing to others, I can just write and write everything going on in my mind until words feel redundant.

Tracking Yearly Goals.

After a mental dump, I follow up with a check-in with my goals! This is where I do a personal audit, I get honest about my progress while honoring my hard work then I figure out if the goals I made for the year still align with what I want. Here also, I bite off what I know I can chew for the month.

Some Planning!

Once the audit has been complete, I write a plan for how I intend to chew what I've bitten off. This is where I come up with a rough idea of how my daily routine will look for the month and specific actions I need to take to tick off my goals for the month.

Glamorizing Self-Care.

This is where I think the fun begins, if you're anything like me then you absolutely understand how important it is to enjoy selfcare! Others might argue that it is tedious but it's simply because they are the girls that don't get it - jokes. I like doing the "major" selfcare acts at the start of each month, these acts include things like getting my hair into a protective style, getting a facial* or simply getting my nails done. Doing this is not necessarily a motivator for me but more a rewards because external motivation does not work for me. It does not always have to be grand, sometimes an at-home body relaxation session gets the job done and my body always appreciates the slow and thoughtful stuff.
