ROUTINE [seasonal] ADAPTABILITY

ROUTINE ADAPTABILITY.

4 steps to get into the groove during this winter.

The mornings are getting cooler and the chill in the air starts to bite the moment you get out of bed. So the urge to stay in bed a little longer is stronger.

If there is one thing the cold weather may be coming after it is your discipline and willpower! Your routine will determine how much you enjoy the A/W period and the transition from Summer.

Your routine does NOT need to be set in stone if anything, you need it to be flexible to withstand the inevitable changes of life.

Here are some steps* you want to consider when reviewing your routines'' for seasonal adaptability:

1. Define the core aspects of your current routine.

• There are things that already make you feel accomplished in your current routine. These are the things you may feel like are getting harder to do in the winter but if you can find slower (softer) ways to get them done it will change how your days pan out. If being on time makes you feel like you have your foot on the ball, don't begrudgingly drag yourself out of bed - instead set your alarm for 10 minutes earlier and spend those 10 minutes waking yourself up slowly, hydrating yourself and perhaps reading something light.

2. Find ways to make your routine simpler*.

• Once you know there are 4 things you absolutely need to do to win the day, find ways to make them seem easier for you.

• If you think working out for an hour in the morning is improbable for you then move it to the evening or make your workouts shorter, less intense but more frequent.

3. Allow for flexibility!

• While reaching your goals will surely need you to have your systems down pat, you do not want to get to the destination grumpy!

• Your routine works for you, make it into a system that will not clog because you were not feeling up to the rigidness of being the *IT GIRL*.

• You can be your own tailored version of an IT girl without being too tired and stressed.

4. Plan for transition.

Do not feel the pressure to be on your game all year round, during this time of redefining when works and dropping what does not, you want to give yourself a period of grace to determine what you will carry with you for the rest of the season.

• 7 days | 1 week is ample time to try out different variations of a routine.

• A firm number on this transition period is important because you do not want to realize it's mid June and you have had 30 days of "trying to figure it out".
