5 Things You Can Do To Elevate Your Mornings

With Summer quickly coming to an end, outside is getting cooler and getting out of bed is getting harder. If you already are not a morning head I suspect this change in season might make you dread mornings even more.

however, I'll say you do not have to hate mornings to want to slide in an extra 5 minutes after your alarm has gone off and in cooler weather everyone deserves to snuggle up a little longer in the comfort of their bed.

All that said, I still think we all need mornings we love existing in. for me, the first time of day is important in ensuring a have a day i am proud to live in. so, here are 5 things i do to elevate my mornings and i believe they can be used by anyone to elevate their mornings.

Planning

I always talk about planning and i truly believe it changes how my mornings (and essentially my life) go. For better mornings, I suggest one plans for their mornings, write down what you want to see in your "perfect morning", account for all you know you need to do and what are the things you would appreciate more of. This planning is best done the night before, write down your to-do list for the next day, take out your workout attire and pack your gym bag as necessary.

Practice Flexibility

I love a good routine, I have one for nearly everything (admitting the "nearly" made me have an internal grimace) but I will admit that there have been days when I do not want to follow a rigid routine, with practice I have found that those days fuel my being in their own way. Allowing flexibility in your mornings will loosen any rigidity you may have on ideas that could create a sense of boredom. You may choose to practise yoga instead of going for a walk, try tea instead of coffee or skip breakfast if you tend to frequent having it.

Mindfulness.

This closely links to planning, being mindful in your mornings means being present in what you want to experience and feel to fuel a successful day for you. With a written plan for the morning, I know what I need to do that morning before I let my mind distract me into doing something else. Another thing that helps me keep focused is meditation and I've adopted a new little tradition of minute meditations because I cannot keep my mind focused for anything beyond three minutes so I try to take my meditations by the minute.

"As you make formal priorities for the morning, reserve time for self and try to be as mindful as possible."

Go Outside.

Moving your body in the morning has multiple benefits but if vigorous movement is not your cup of tea then you can incorporate little moments of movement. Being under open skies and trees always elevates my mood and helps me in feeling connected to nature. instead of scrolling through the feed or timeline in the morning, step outside and enjoy a little cold on your face.

Hydration

In cooler weather, it is harder for us to see the hydration leave our bodies through sweat and in summer drinking water is easy but it is just as important to have water as a staple. An awesome way to keep it in your memory is to have a water bottle readily available just as the morning starts. you can keep it next to your coffee mug or just leave it by the bedside for easy reach in the morning.
