Red Flags to Drop, '22

In 2022, these are 5 things I think we can all do without - AKA red flags (🚩).
Denial of Red Flags.
First things first! Denial of red flags, we all tend to be a little in denial about things that make us unhappy which we are entirely responsible for.
Being adult enough to acknowledge what you do look inward and realise what you do to self-sabotage takes remarkable self-awareness and it often pays off.
Gaslighting.
The book definition being: "manipulating (someone) by psychological means into doubting their own sanity."
This trait is often associated with abusers and they usually do rock with it - in fact it is a form of emotional abuse. Being accused of something and denying it while you know it is true is gaslighting and if you tend to do this, actively seek means to detach from the trait.
Obsessive behavior.
While this might seem cute and interesting initially, it is a very hard habit to drop. Such behavior grows from emotions like worry that often lead to anxiety and distress. Unfortunately, when avoided for long enough this may lead to thoughts about hurting oneself and others.
Overindulgence.
Too much of anything can be fatal. While hedonists might beg to differ from me on this, pessimists would not argue much. No one wants to get over the good times, but life just does not work like that - we all need everything for balance. This is just to highlight that it is okay to enjoy a healthy meal, or that you do not have to finish the ice-cream tub at one go. Practicing to let go of excessive gratification and being ignorant to moderation is something that may take a while to master but it is something well worth it.
Unwillingness to Change
Being steadfast set in your ways is single-handedly going to help keep you unhappy. Choosing to remain the same is unexciting and defying change being not being adaptable is not going to get you any closer to happiness. So, instead of hoping things turn out exactly how you'd like, imagine how much you'd learn if things required you to be challenged!
Herein I hope I showed that luxury is also a state of wellbeing, choosing your own path to wellness and living purposefully.
Thank you for reading.
